Generating Your Gateway ID & Password

Once your payment gateway has been set up by E-xact, you will need to retrieve your Gateway ID and Gateway Password to connect your software or application to our processing system.

Step 1: Access the Terminals Dashboard

  1. Log in to the RPM portal at https://pos.e-xact.com. (If you do not know your login credentials, contact E-xact Support).
  2. From the top navigation menu, click on the Administration tab, then select the Terminals sub-tab.

Step 2: Select Your Terminal

  1. On the Terminals page, you will see a list of all terminals associated with your account.
  2. Locate the specific terminal you wish to connect (the name of your new terminal is typically sent to you via email by an E-xact support team member).
  3. Click anywhere on that terminal's row to open the Terminal Details page.
  4. At the top of this page, you will find your Gateway ID.

Step 3: Generate a Gateway Password

🚧

WARNING: Active Terminals

If you are updating the password for a terminal that is already in use, changing the Gateway Password will immediately interrupt transaction processing. You will not be able to process payments until the new password is updated within your connected software. If this is a brand new terminal, you can safely ignore this warning.

In the Password field on the Terminal Details page, you have two options for creating your password:

  • Generate Key: Click this link beside the password box to automatically generate a highly secure, random 32-character password.
  • Enter Manually: Clicking this link will generate a random 16-character password, but will also unlock the text box so you can manually type a password of your choosing. For security reasons, E-xact highly recommends your custom password be 16 characters or longer.

Step 4: Save and Apply

  1. Crucial: Before leaving the page, be sure to record both your new Gateway ID and Password (as the password will be masked once saved).
  2. Click the Update button at the bottom of the webpage to save your changes.
  3. Finally, enter this Gateway ID and Password into your third-party system, website, or application to complete your integration.
